the actual "Unfettered Wood" in the fall
The name “Unfettered Wood” is a small tip of the hat to a forested area behind the old family farm, which was affectionately called by the same moniker. It is a beautiful spot full of maples, birches, pines, rowans and oaks. It was also a favourite place for my Grandmother to explore and for her Mother to gather wild edible and medicinal plants

On this blog you will primarily find out what is going on behind the scenes at Unfettered Wood, as well as information that I think is relevant to folk magic and Paganism.

I moved to North Bay from Toronto in 2006 to be closer to family, and to live out my dream of eventually having a small farm in the area. Currently my family lives in the city in a small house where we grow some of our own food, along with a variety of magical and medicinal plants. I also have a few spots in the area that I frequent to wildcraft plants that we don’t grow ourselves.

I am a Gaelic polytheist who is dedicated to a few deities of pre-Christian Ireland and Scotland. Taking equal importance is veneration for my ancestors, paying respect to local land spirits, as well as plant and animal allies. They all play a role in my daily life, whether I am tending to our hearth and land, practicing my craft, or out for some adventure in the wild. In short, I view my chosen religion as a way of life, not just something that happens on the festival days.
